On April 26, 2025, as part of the school bagless day programme, the students of classes 6, 7 and 8 attended an interactive session conducted by Mr Anand Dabre from the NGO ‘Friends for Action’ on the theme of being clean and doing our bit on keeping our environment clean.
Through song, activities and interactive questions Anand Sir led us from our understanding of what it means to be clean to what is should mean and how cleanliness should not be restricted to just personal cleanliness (although that is important) but how it should be expanded to include our whole environment. He pointed out how he had scattered pieces of tissue paper in the hall before the session started and how not one piece was picked up by us as we entered the hall and took our places.
Anand Sir then shared a PowerPoint with us on environmental cleanliness and the many ways we could contribute to keeping our environment clean such as cleaning the beaches, carpooling and most importantly by not littering. His game ‘Ole Ole, Kandha Pohe’ was not only enjoyable but it really helped us reinforce the teaching that all of us want to live in a clean environment.
For many of us, the part we enjoyed the most was when we were handed out coloured paper and were asked to fill the paper with doodles of clean things and fun quotes about cleanliness. We particularly loved it when our creative ideas and artistic work was then put together by the PTA representatives to form a huge poster.
Mr Dabre concluded his session by reminding us that if each of us starts making small efforts towards cleanliness the end result would be huge. He then ended the session by teaching us a song about cleanliness.
Overall, we enjoyed the experience of learning about cleanliness and we look forward to our school organising more such programs during the academic year.
